Danelectro Chicken Salad Mod

I know, the label on the pedal says "Vibrato", and it is a Vibrato pedal.  But it's modulation functions on light dependent resistors (LDR's) much like a Univibe does.  This mod has two simple tweaks after carefully taking the pedal apart.  All you need to do is add some reflective foil to the LDR compartment and tweak and internal trim pot.   You can follow a step-by-step here: http://www.regiscoyne.com/tech/CS_mods/

These pedals are only about $29, and most Univibes go for just under $200 if you're lucky.  The cheapest Rotovibe I've seen, hovers around $100.  So, if you're like me and you don't use one often enough to justify investing so much money in a Univibe, this pedal sounds pretty damn good for the studio or experimenting. Even before the mod, the pedal sounded pretty unique and good.

Probably the one of the more well know Univibe users.
